‘He loves him’: Journalist says Mikel Arteta adores £35m Arsenal player who hasn’t been starting

Mikel Arteta has a lot of squad depth to call upon at Arsenal right now.

Aside from on the right wing, Arsenal have multiple quality players capable of playing in any position on the pitch.

Perhaps the most competitive spot in this Arsenal squad at the moment is at left-back, Jakub Kiwior and Takehiro Tomiyasu have been competing for that spot in recent weeks, while Oleksandr Zinchenko remains an option.

Zinchenko has fallen out of favour as of late, but according to James Benge, speaking on Inside Arsenal, the Ukrainian is still a player that Mikel Arteta really likes.

Mikel Arteta still loves Oleksandr Zinchenko

Benge spoke about the £35m man and how much Arteta loves him.

“Zinchenko is a really good shout, I think it’s between him and Partey (to be sold), but the think we know about Arteta is that he loves Zinchenko and the quality he brings,” Arteta said.

Zinchenko is a quality player

Oleksandr Zinchenko hasn’t been playing much recently for Arsenal, but make no mistake about it, he’s still a quality player.

Technically, he’s up there with the best of them at the Emirates, but, unfortunately, his lack of physicality and lack of defensive sense make it difficult to justify starting him at left-back.

Zinchenko, of course, did come through as a midfield player, and perhaps that’s where he’d be best utilised in this Arsenal team going forwards.

Arteta still really rates the former Manchester City man by the sounds of things, and while he’s had to have a bit of time on the bench this season, it wouldn’t be a shock if he worked his way back into the starting XI at some point next term.

Zinchenko remains one of the most talented players at Arsenal.
