'He's playing very well': Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola hails Chelsea player before Sunday's game

Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has named the Chelsea player that could pose serious danger to his side during Sunday’s game.

It’s the final day of the Premier League season this Sunday afternoon, with Chelsea wrapping up at home to Bournemouth.

The teams played out a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture back in April. Thankfully, the Blues are in much better form this time around, winning their previous four consecutive league matches.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino goes into Sunday’s game with his team sitting sixth in the league table. If they avoid defeat, they’ll secure European qualification for next season.

Andoni Iraola hails important Chelsea player

Bournemouth’s Iraola has admitted that Chelsea’s Cole Palmer is a big obstacle that his team must come up against at the weekend.

The 22-year-old Blues attacker has tormented defences throughout the season, scoring 22 league goals in total. It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see him sign off from a quality debut season with the Blues in style.

“They (Chelsea) have very good individual threats. They have players finishing the season [well]. Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson…” Iraola said via Bournemouth’s official YouTube channel.

When asked if there’s specific plans to stop Palmer, Iraola added: “It’s very difficult obviously. Sometimes you cannot only focus on Cole Palmer. We know that he’s playing very well and making the numbers. He’s a big threat. But all the players around him they are also in a very good moment.”

Cole Palmer carrying form into Euros

If Gareth Southgate wants to pick an England starting XI based on form right now, Chelsea’s Palmer simply has to be in it.

It would be a travesty if he doesn’t play some role at this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament with England.

Whether he’s playing as a No 10 or a right-winger, he impacts any game he plays in right now.

Remarkably, Palmer’s been able to keep up this very high level from the start of the season until the very end.

Even in the last three matches, he’s scored two goals and made one assist as he keeps delivering goal contributions.
