During the recent Benzinga Sports Betting, Gaming & Esports: A Deep Divevirtual event, Greg Selkoe, co-founder and CEO of XSET, discussed the future of his gaming lifestyle company and its involvement with Fortnite.

Selkoe’s insights revealed how XSET is blending gaming with music, fashion and entertainment and how the company’s latest initiatives are set to make waves in the industry.

XSET's Multi-Faceted Approach

Founded almost four years ago, XSET carved out a niche by focusing on where gaming intersects with other cultural elements.

“We’re not primarily focused on esports, although we dabble in it,” Selkoe explained. “Our main focus is on where gaming intersects with music, fashion, art and entertainment.”

XSET is known for its events and merchandise, and it has big plans for the second half of the year, including content development with creators such as Chris London and T Grizzly.

Fortnite and the Power of Clicks

Selkoe stressed the importance of signing popular Fortnite player Clicks, describing him as a “force of nature” who aligns perfectly with XSET’s vision.

"Clicks is 19 years old, a super smart guy, and his clothing line is Dreamin, which is North of a million bucks a year. We’re helping him with that," Selkoe said. Clicks is a player and a co-owner, deeply involved in shaping the team and the company's direction.

Queens Collective: A Focus on Diversity

The conversation also touched on XSET’s Queens Collective, a group aimed at empowering female gamers. Selkoe emphasized the importance of diversity within the gaming community.

"There’s 3 billion people that game, and 45% of them are women. It’s amazing to me how little focus there is beyond the narrow view of what a gamer is," he stated.

The Queens Collective has been reimagined under XSET, with recruits and content series in the pipeline.

Saudi Arabia Tournament and Future Plans

XSET is set to participate in a $6.5 million Fortnite tournament in Saudi Arabia, fielding a team handpicked by Clicks.

“Clicks is the face and the coach, and he’s very excited about it. He’ll be there, not competing, but supporting the team,” Selkoe shared.

Beyond tournaments, XSET has several exciting projects lined up. He hinted at launching a new clothing line featuring Clicks, with a promotional video directed by Show Me the God, known for his work with artists like Beyoncé and The Weeknd.

Additionally, Selkoe mentioned that XSET is looking into developing new Fortnite maps in collaboration with Death Row Gaming and T Grizzly and plans a significant event in June with DJ Kaskade, blending gaming with fashion.

Building a Creator Economy

Selkoe expressed his belief in the power of the creator economy, highlighting XSET's strategy of giving influencers ownership stakes in the company.

"We are in a creator economy where influencers have a bigger reach," Selkoe said. "You guys were able to utilize them in a way that works with your vision, right?"

With XSET approaching its fourth anniversary, Selkoe feels the company is hitting its stride. "The next six months will be a breakout period for XSET. I think everyone will be shocked, surprised and excited by all the different things we are doing," he said.
