Donald Trump‘s niece, Mary Trump, shared her insights on the New York hush-money fraud trial and its potential implications for her uncle in a Saturday interview.

Unfazed Trump? Mary Trump, a psychologist and podcaster, suggested in an MSNBC interview that the disclosures made by adult movie star Stormy Daniels regarding the alleged sexual encounter may not have mattered to Donald Trump.

“Donald Trump is incapable of shame or embarrassment. He is capable of humiliation but the kind of details that were revealed in the courtroom are not really the kind of details that bother him,” she remarked.

Mary Trump indicated that her uncle wouldn’t mind being perceived as “sleazy” or disrespectful towards women. “Unfortunately, he takes it as a badge of honor,” she added.

She commended Daniels for being “incredibly sincere,” noting her consistency in testimony. Mary Trump highlighted Daniels’ response to defense attorneys, where she expressed that if she were fabricating her story, it would have been more compelling, suggesting credibility.

Mary Trump urged her uncle to address the allegations directly in court rather than flouting the gag order outside of it.

Playing Martyr Card: Regarding the view that Donald Trump may willingly go to jail just to come off as a martyr and rally voters around, Mary Trump said it was absurd to think so.

The psychologist said her uncle may not be able to handle the situation of being locked in a cell without access to his phone. “He would love the martyrdom, but I don’t think he is for real willing to go to jail,” she said.

Family Support: Mary Trump also weighed in on the absence of any of her uncle’s family members, save Eric Trump, in the courtroom during hearings. “People who support him don’t make anything of its,” she said. The psychologist said her uncle’s family is very transactional. “I don’t think he gets anything out of having them there, or they get anything out of being there,” she said.

That said, Donald Trump would be more concerned and angry that he does not have thousands of supporters picketing outside for him, Mary Trump said.

Push Back In Trial Schedule? Mary Trump said she had hopes that the New York hush-money trial will result in him being held accountable. “This may well be the only trial that doesn’t just finish but that even starts before the election, which is a damning indictment of the state our legal system is in, right now,” she said.

Barron Trump Rumors: The news of Donald Trump’s youngest child Barron Trump going to the Republican National Convention as a floor delegate reminded Mary Trump of her uncle installing his daughter-in-law as one of the heads of RNC, the psychologist said. “He is really trying to make this another family business, another family business that would likely fail if he is in charge of it again,” she said.

She noted that Barron Trump was just 18 years old and had not graduated from high school and had to be out of this. “We can get the sense of where Donald is heading, in terms of making sure all of his family members are in key positions politically,” she said.

Cohen’s Testimony: When Mary Trump was asked what her uncle was most concerned about his ex-lawyer Michael Cohen’s testimony this week, she said, “What will rattle him the most is the fact that he will be in the same room with Michael Cohen without any ability whatsoever to respond.”

Cohen acted as the conduit through whom money flowed to Daniels, and in 2018, he pled guilty to campaign finance violations and other charges. He also said at the behest of Donald Trump, he arranged the payment of hush money to Daniels and a former Playboy model to avoid any impairment to the latter’s White House bid in 2016.

The friend-turned-foe is scheduled to testify against his former boss on Monday.

Mary Trump said, “No matter what Michael Cohen says, that is going to be extraordinarily challenging for him.”

Cohen is much more triggering for Donald Trump than Daniels, the psychologist said. “It is important to remember that one of the reasons we are here is Michael Cohen committed crimes on behalf of Donald Trump. He was punished and Donald wasn’t,” she said.
