The tragic story of Nathan Allen and Arnelle Floyd has sent shockwaves through the community of Homestead, Florida.
This young couple, both 24 years old, have been charged with the unthinkable - the first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse of their 6-month-old infant daughter, Nalani Adalee Allen.

On Sunday, May 10, 2024, Allen and Floyd brought their lifeless baby to the Baptist Health Homestead Hospital. Medical staff immediately recognized the signs of severe abuse - the infant had multiple fractured ribs in various stages of healing, as well as numerous bruises across her tiny body.

Tragically, Nalani was pronounced dead less than an hour after arriving at the hospital, her young life cut short by the very people entrusted to protect her.
The subsequent autopsy revealed the true extent of the brutality inflicted upon Nalani. Forensic examiners discovered "numerous fresh contusions, internal bleeding, large lacerations to internal organs and blunt force injuries" throughout the infant's torso. The medical examiner's report classified Nalani's cause of death as a homicide, leaving no doubt that this was a deliberate and horrific act.
When initially questioned by detectives, both Allen and Floyd claimed that Nalani had been in good health, with no history of injuries or falls. However, the evidence found at their residence told a very different story.
Police executed a search warrant and discovered a home in complete disarray, with fist-sized holes in the walls and dents in the refrigerator that appeared to be the result of physical altercations.
Neighbors corroborated the reports of domestic violence at the Allen-Floyd residence, describing the disputes as "violent, with items and/or persons being thrown into walls around the residence." This pattern of abuse and violence within the home paints a chilling backdrop to the tragic fate that befell little Nalani.

Nalani had been examined by her pediatrician just two days before her death, and the doctor reported that she "did not show any signs of bruising or broken bones despite being underweight." This stark contrast between the infant's condition at the hospital and her recent checkup raises troubling questions about the timeline and nature of the abuse that ultimately led to her demise.
According to Local 10, based on the overwhelming evidence, Miami-Dade police arrested Nathan Allen and Arnelle Floyd on Wednesday, charging them both with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.
The couple was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where they remain held without bond as they face the grim consequences of their actions.
The investigation has revealed a disturbing pattern of domestic violence within the Allen-Floyd household. Neighbors' accounts paint a picture of a tumultuous and abusive environment, with reports of "violent disputes" and "items and/or persons being thrown into walls."
