Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito was missing one thing from his explanation of why an insurrectionist upside-down flag was displayed at his home around the time of Jan. 6, 2021, according to lawyers and strategists.

Alito, who has been under fire after blaming his wife for the insurrectionist display that flew in his front yard, has stated that the flag was only up for a short period of time. He also noted that it was during a time of political upheaval for the whole country, and a response to an anti-Trump sign belonging to one of his neighbors.

But he didn't say one thing that could mean the most to the public, according to Democratic political strategist Simon Rosenberg.

"Alito notably has never said it was wrong to hang an insurrectionist symbol outside of his house days after an attack on our democracy and that he apologizes," he said Friday. "He just blames the libs."

In a separate post, Rosenberg said, "A reminder to all - Alito never said the insurrectionist flag flying outside his house was wrong, and that he was sorry. This is a serious problem."

Former federal prosecutor Elizabeth de la Vega also chimed in, saying, "Correct. That is all Alito had to do."

Conservative attorney George Conway, a frequent critic of the former president, also had a similar thought Friday.

"And remember: One of the commandments of Trumpism is 'Thou shalt never apologizeth, or admitteth thy mistakes.'"

The Top House Democrat also called for Alito to apologize for the flag on Friday.
