The US is actively working on the prompt delivery of weapons to the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, states White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby.

"We are closely monitoring Russia's offensive in northeastern Ukraine and working around the clock to get weapons and equipment into the hands of Ukrainian soldiers to help them repel these attacks," he said.

Kirby noted that after President Joe Biden signed a package of financial assistance for Ukraine's defense needs in April, the White House immediately ordered the allocation of specific aid packages.

The National Security Council coordinator reminded that since April, the US has allocated two packages under presidential authority and an additional $6 billion through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which will be used to purchase new weapons from manufacturers for Ukraine.

Military aid from the US to Ukraine

During his visit to Kyiv this week, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced another $2 billion aid package for Ukraine under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program.

Earlier, Kirby noted that some of the weapons from the previous aid package are already in the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The State Department stated that US military aid to Ukraine will deliver tangible results on the battlefield.
