'I never expected': Troy Deeney names Manchester Utd player as the most disappointing player in the Premier League

Manchester United have had a bunch of players deliver disappointing performances this season and Troy Deeney believes one man has been the most disappointing in the entire league.

United look destined to finish in 7th or 8th this season with Chelsea three points above them in sixth and with a huge advantage in terms of goal difference.

For manager Erik ten Hag, it has been another hugely testing season and it remains to be seen if he’ll be the man to take United forward next season.

Of course, Ten Hag might have been on a better standing had some of his players produced more. Yes, injuries have hampered United’s season, but in the main, some big and experienced players haven’t quite done the business.

And one man who pundit and former Watford striker Troy Deeney feels has really let the team down, is Brazilian midfielder, Casemiro.

Troy Deeney says Casemiro has been the most disappointing player in the entire league

Speaking in The Sun when asked to name his most disappointing player of the season, Deeney admitted that the United midfielder was his pick.

“Casemiro. I never expected him to have the legs or to run around everywhere, or to be the best defensive midfielder in the world,” Deeney said.

“What I did expect was for him to use his vast experience and know-how at Manchester United to get them through tough times and to be a consistent presence.

“He has been anything but — and United have suffered massively as a result.”

Casemiro needs to leave Old Trafford

Sometimes, it’s just time for a player to move on and call it a day in one adventure and it looks like being the case for Casemiro at United.

When he first signed – albeit it for huge money – United did initially see the benefits of him in midfield and he was a good foil for the likes of Bruno Fernandes.

But this move to centre-back in recent weeks has been a disaster. Ian Wright and Gary Lineker very recently laughed at his performance v Burnley, while Jamie Carragher insisted just a few weeks back that Casemiro just had to leave.

Ben Foster has also labelled Casemiro a ‘disgrace‘, so it’s safe to say things haven’t gone well for the Brazilian midfielder.

Time, then, for him to depart.
