'I worry': BBC pundit says he has a major concern about two Chelsea players heading into this summer

Chelsea have had an inspired finish to the season and look like qualifying for Europe but they have been warned over selling key players.

The Blues have splashed around £1bn since Todd Boehly and co took over but so far, there’s been little in the way of success on the field.

However, a good finish to this season and continued investment in young players seems to be giving Chelsea fans some hope ahead of next term.

Mauricio Pochettino has done more than enough to secure his job for the foreseeable and the summer is expected to see more new arrivals.

But, one problem Chelsea could have is staying within FFP and PSR. And that means a key homegrown player might need to be sold.

And speaking about that issue, former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison has conceded it’s a big concern.

Chelsea told they cannot afford to lose Conor Gallagher or Reece James

Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live last night, former Palace striker Morrison admitted he does worry for Chelsea if they have to sell one of Gallagher or James.

“One thing I worry about is they might have to sell someone, and it might have to be either Reece James or Conor Gallagher,” Morrison said.

“They are two crucial players for Chelsea moving forward.”

Who is trying to sign Gallagher and James?

Much has been made of Conor Gallagher’s future and it’s no secret that Tottenham are huge admirers of the midfielder.

Reports recently have suggested Spurs still do hold that interest and they could even make a £50m for Gallagher before the end of June.

As for James, there is apparent interest in him from Spanish giants, Real Madrid. Reports have claimed the La Liga champions really like the Chelsea skipper and have considered making their move.

James has had another miserable season really with injuries and then he was sent off in the last game, meaning he’ll miss the final game of the season.

It does seem like Chelsea have a decision to make on these two players and more. And by the time next season rolls around, we could indeed be looking at a very different Blues line-up.
