'Let's see': Troy Deeney says Chelsea man is the player he's most looking forward to watching next season

Troy Deeney has shared that one Chelsea individual is the Premier League player he’s most looking forward to watching next season.

For Chelsea, they’ve gone through a campaign full of ups and downs. It’s what makes the Blues such a fantastic watch for the neutral.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side go into the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday in sixth spot, knowing they’re guaranteed some form of European football next year if they avoid defeat at home to Bournemouth.

Troy Deeney can’t wait to watch Chelsea man next season

Troy Deeney, the former Premier League striker, claims that Chelsea’s Cole Palmer is the star he’s most looking forward to watching next season.

There’s still one league game left to play in the 2023/24 campaign, but it’s already interesting to think whether or not Palmer can follow up a stunning debut season at Stamford Bridge in the same way next year.

The 22-year-old attacker has just been named Premier League Young Player of the Season for a stunning year. He’s scored 22 goals and made 10 assists in the league for Chelsea since joining from Manchester City last summer.

When asked which player is he most looking forward to watching next season in the Premier League, Deeney told The Sun: “Cole Palmer. He was an unknown this season and when he signed for Chelsea from City, everyone thought, ‘Let’s see how he does’.

“Now, let’s see how does when everyone knows who and what he is, when teams are preparing to stop him rather than his team-mates.

“He is going to have a different light and a different expectation on him, especially if he goes and shines at the Euros this summer.”

Cole Palmer to receive the Eden Hazard treatment

Any team that played against Chelsea between 2012 and 2019 would have one burning question on their mind during pre-match talks. How do we stop Eden Hazard?

Of course, Hazard played in teams littered with superstars and he wasn’t a one-man team. However, it’s pretty obvious he was constantly targeted by opposition sides as the dangerman to stop at all costs.

Now Palmer’s had a breakout year in the Premier League, he’ll have lost the element of surprise. Don’t be surprised to see teams target the central playmaker with extra marking and more aggressive tackles moving forward.

Hopefully, Palmer can rise to the challenge like all the top-class attackers out there do.
