Anti-aircraft gunners of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Lieutenant General Marko Bezruchko shot down a Russian Su-25 attack aircraft in Donetsk region.

This is the fourth enemy Su-25 on the account of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade's fighters in May.

"Fourth one down! The anti-aircraft gunners of the 110th continue to issue fiery fines to Russian pilots for illegal border crossing. They have shot down an enemy Su-25 again, and its remains are now rotting in one of the Donetsk forests," the brigade said.

Prior to this, Russian Su-25s crashed after encounters with the Ukrainian military on May 4, 11 and 13.

What is known about the Su-25

The Su-25, also known as the Rook, is a Soviet attack aircraft designed to provide air support for ground forces. It first flew in 1975 and was put into service in 1981.

The aircraft is designed for frontline operations where it can effectively engage enemy armored vehicles, fortifications, and manpower. The Su-25 has strong armor that protects against small arms and anti-aircraft guns and is equipped with a variety of weapons, including cannons, missiles, and bombs.

The Su-25 has been exported to many countries and continues to be used in the armed forces of many countries, including Russia and Ukraine.

In May, the Ukrainian military also destroyed a Ka-52 helicopter.
