'He glides across the pitch': Former Tottenham man says £60m target would actually be perfect for Arsenal

Arsenal will strengthen the ranks this summer and a new forward is on the agenda for the Gunners when the window opens.

Despite pushing Man City all the way this season and the fact they could even win the title, Arsenal are still expected to spend again this summer.

A number of forwards are being linked with a move already. Ivan Toney remains a player on the radar, while Benjamin Sesko’s name is gathering momentum as well.

Other names, too, such as Alexander Isak, are thought to feature on Mikel Arteta’s wanted list.

And speaking about Arsenal’s search for a striker, former Tottenham midfielder Michael Brown has said that Newcastle star Isak is the ideal signing.

Pundit says Alexander Isak is the man for Arsenal

Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live about the potential of Arsenal signing a new striker, Brown insisted that while Arsenal aren’t desperate, Isak would be ideal.

This, despite his former club Spurs also being keen on Isak.

“I just look at Isak and I just think the range of finishing that he has got in a better team, the way he glides across the pitch, the way he can just open that body, finish into that far post, I think he is getting better and better,” Brown said.

“I just think he would be another option. I don’t think it’s crying out for me that Arsenal are in a desperate position to go and say we have to have a number nine because I think they are scoring so many goals anyway. I think the strengths there and they will try and tweak it somewhere.

“But I wonder whether they can go again and get a huge signing, a marquee signing, when they have spent what they have already.”

Newcastle confident of keeping Alexander Isak

Despite Brown’s fellow pundit Nigel Reo-Coker also tipping Isak to Arsenal, the Gunners could have issues in landing him.

Our TBR Football exclusive last week revealed that Isak is in line to be Newcastle’s highest paid player ever and so far, he’s shown no desire to want to force any sort of move.

Isak has become such a favourite at St James’ Park that he knows that deep down, he’d be leaving a gaping void and upsetting a lot of people by looking to move.

Of course, every player has his price and should Arsenal offer around £120m – doublethe £60m they paid in the first place – then talks might get underway.

But for now, Newcastle do appear confident of Isak, despite all the noise on Arsenal.
