Report: Ineos learn how much it will cost to bring 20-year-old goalscoring sensation to Manchester United

Rasmus Hojlund’s first Premier League campaign comes to an end on Sunday as Manchester United take on Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Dane arrived in a big-money move from Atalanta last summer as United brought in a potential future star rather than a proven goalscorer.

Hojlund has shown signs of his huge potential but has already been through some very testing periods at Old Trafford.

Having to wait until December for his first Premier League goal was not in the plans, but Hojlund has now scored nine goals in his first Premier League campaign.

The 21-year-old would no doubt love to make that double figures on the final day of the Premier League season.

Five goals in six Champions League games also show Hojlund’s potential but it’s clear that United need to bring in another striker this summer.

Manchester United learn Benjamin Sesko fee

Anthony Martial has already said goodbye to United as he prepares to leave the club on a free transfer this summer.

Finding another striker to support Hojlund has to be a priority for United this summer and another top young talent is on the radar.

Reports in April highlighted that United are back in the hunt for RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko.

Sesko’s agent Elvis Basanovic set tongues wagging just a week ago as he attended United’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

The Gunners were then claimed to be leading the race for Sesko’s signature, seemingly positioning themselves ahead of United.

Sky Germany’s Philipp Hinze now claims that Sesko’s release clause has been finalised following the end of the Bundesliga season.

RB Leipzig seemingly agreed an interesting deal whereby Sesko’s release clause would rise if he performed well in Germany’s top flight.

Hinze claims that the final fee is €65million (£56million), rising all the way up from €50million (£43million) at the start of the season.

That is a considerable fee but a little cheaper than the £64million mentioned in those Arsenal reports.

United splashed big money on Hojlund last summer but may now be tempted to go and strike for another young striker by paying Sesko’s release clause.

Sesko in red-hot form

Sesko has been on the United radar for a while.

The Slovenian talent showed potential at Red Bull Salzburg and could have signed for United in 2022 – but chose RB Leipzig instead.

Sesko has since admitted that style of play was a factor in his decision, believing that the transition from Red Bull Salzburg to RB Leipzig – two partner clubs – would have been easier than joining United.

United missed out for just £20million at that point but his superb form means that he will cost nearly three times that price now.

Sesko scored in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt, meaning he has now scored in each of his last seven Bundesliga games.

The 20-year-old has been sensational since the turn of the year, racking up 11 goals and two assists in his last 20 appearances.

There has always been potential in Sesko but he is now really living up to the billing having found his feet in Germany.

United have missed out once before and may not want to experience that again as the fee needed for the 6ft 4in striker becomes known.
