Former Liverpool player Maxi Rodriguez sends five-word message to Jurgen Klopp ahead of his final game

Liverpool supporters have had to say goodbye to some huge names over recent years.

As Jurgen Klopp’s great team of 2018-2022 have aged and moved on, there have been sad farewell’s in each of the past three years.

But while waving off the likes of Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum have hit Anfield hard, Sunday is going to be something else entirely.

We’re not sure that anyone is quite ready to see the Liverpool manager go. Klopp has been one of the greatest figures in the club’s history. Goodbye is oh so difficult to say.

Nevertheless, it was a day that was always going to come. And as Jurgen prepares to lead his Liverpool squad for the final time, tributes have been pouring in. Former Reds forward Maxi Rodriguez is the latest to add his thoughts.

What Maxi Rodriguez said to Jurgen Klopp

It has now been 12 years since Maxi said his own goodbye to Liverpool. However, the Argentine has been back recently to play in the Liverpool Legend’s charity match in March.

Although he only spent two-and-a-half years at Anfield, Maxi has always been well regarded by the Anfield faithful.

In the years since his departure, he has kept across goings on at the club. Like so many players who pass through, Liverpool clearly holds a special place in his heart.

This is evidenced by his message to Klopp on Saturday night. Though they obviously never crossed paths at Liverpool, Maxi shared a picture of a meeting between the two men on X.

“Legend,” wrote the former Argentina international, before adding “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

Former players pay tribute to Jurgen Klopp

Maxi hasn’t been the only former Liverpool player to praise Klopp ahead of his final match in charge of the Reds.

Some of the most notable adulation came from Premier League and Champions League winning midfielder Adam Lallana.

Unlike Rodriguez, Lallana did of course play under Klopp. And speaking to Sky Sports, the 36-year-old hailed how the German had banished his insecurities at playing for Liverpool.

Legends such as James Milner, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher were also present to pay tribute to Jurgen, while Kenny Dalglish added his usual class to proceedings.

Over the course of the day we’ll no doubt see further reaction as one of Liverpool’s best ever managers takes his last stand.
