Gini Wijnaldum posts reaction to Liverpool's emotional Jurgen Klopp goodbye video

It’s going to be a tough day for Liverpool fans on Sunday as Jurgen Klopp officially leaves the club.

The Reds have been on one heck of a ride under Klopp, winning seven major trophies and ending their 30-year wait for a league title.

But it isn’t only the achievements under the German which make him such a Liverpool legend. Klopp’s personality and ability to install a near constant feel-good factor at Anfield is what ensures his legacy will echo for decades.

Losing someone like that is always hard. And if fans are devastated, then members of the Liverpool squad will be, too. Klopp has already spoken of a ‘super-emotional’ moment he had with captain Virgil van Dijk this week.

Jurgen has touched many player’s lives over the course of his nine-year stint, though. And one of those to have left the club, Gini Wijnaldum, has now offered his own reaction to Klopp’s exit.

There was always going to be plenty of content surrounding Klopp’s exit this weekend. And we have to say that Liverpool have really hit it out of the park.

Their video of the Reds manager taking in an empty Anfield before launching into a compilation of his time at the club is truly impeccable.

The choice of ‘You To Me Are Everything’ – of course sung by Liverpudlian band The Real Thing – fits like a glove. Upbeat and filled with joy, it encapsulates the feeling of having Klopp as Liverpool’s manager for all these years. To us, he is everything.

After posting the four-and-a-half-minute long video to Instagram on Saturday, the outpouring from Liverpool fans was indeed emotional.

One of those to comment was Wijnaldum, who Joe Gomez recently named as Liverpool’s most popular ever player, before he left 2021.

The 33-year-old posted two simple love heart emojis to show support for his former boss.

What is Gini Wijnaldum doing now?

Three years on from saying his own emotional Anfield goodbye, thing’s haven’t gone especially to plan for Wijnaldum.

A move to PSG didn’t work out at all, before a loan spell at Roma last season was ruined by a broken leg. With little playing time across two years, Gini dropped out of the Dutch national team.

This year has been a better one for Wijnaldum, though. Now playing under Steven Gerrard at Al Ettifaq, the former Liverpool midfielder has broken back into Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands side ahead of this summer’s European Championships.

Having been named in Koeman’s preliminary squad for the tournament, Gini looks set to line up alongside Virgil van Dijk this summer.

Although he eventually exited three years before Klopp, the Dutchman was a massive part of the success under the manager. His contribution’s against Barcelona in the 2019 Champions League semi-final especially have already gone down in legend.
