£27m Arsenal star spotted in an arm sling following injury during 2-1 win over Everton

An Arsenal star was reportedly seen wearing an arm sling after this afternoon’s 2-1 Premier League win against Everton.

The Gunners missed out on the league title as Manchester City got the job done against West Ham at the Etihad Stadium with a 3-1 win, with Arsenal needing a late Kai Havertz goal to secure their own victory.

Despite missing out on the title, the scenes post-match were that of jubilation and pride from Arsenal supporters, who throughout the game were in fine voice even when news emerged that City were winning.

Yet one Arsenal star did not survive the game in one piece.

Gabriel Magalhaes spotted in sling after picking up injury

As reported by James Benge, Gabriel Magalhaes joined in on the end-of-season celebrations wearing an arm sling after picking up a shoulder injury in the second-half against Everton.

With Gabriel set to travel to the Copa America later this summer with Brazil, the 26-year-old defender being out through injury will be devastating for the Arsenal star given how hard he’s worked to gain international recognition.

Indeed, Gabriel has been one of Arsenal’s best players this season and a key reason why the Premier League title went as far as the final day of the season.

And if the defender is out for the Copa America, Gabriel could take a big confidence hit that could roll into the new season, something Arsenal fans might be fearing.

Gabriel deserves to play at the Copa America with Brazil

Whilst Gabriel’s injury is yet to be assessed, fears will already be brewing that the defender could miss this summer’s Copa America, the first major international tournament the centre-back has been selected for.

And after the defender’s efforts this season, every Arsenal fan will be hopeful that Gabriel gets a crack to play for his country in one of the biggest competitions in football this summer.

The Brazilian international has been nothing short of exceptional this season, and a chance to play for the South American giants in the Copa America is the least Gabriel deserves.
