'I'm sure': Jamie Redknapp makes big Arsenal transfer prediction for next season after today's game

Following today’s disappointing outcome, which saw Arsenal finish second despite beating Everton, Jamie Redknapp has now shared his transfer predictions for the summer.

Just a year ago Arsenal were being regularly accused of ‘bottling’ their title push, something that simply can’t be said this time around.

Yes, they suffered disappointing defeats along the way, particularly against Aston Villa of late, but they demonstrated real character.

Arteta’s side made history securing their most wins in a league season, and they also conceded the least goals in the division.

A remarkable effort and one that deserves to be praised, even if it does still ultimately feel disappointing.

That being said, once the dust settles from today, both the Arsenal manager and Edu Gaspar will continue their preparations for next season, which fans will trust is well under way.

And when reflecting on the game for Sky Sports today, Jamie Redknapp thought he already had a good idea of what they’ll do.

Jamie Redknapp thinks Mikel Arteta needs a few additions to his Arsenal squad this summer

Redknapp praised Arsenal profusely, saying they are incredibly unfortunate to finish as runners-up, and thought they could genuinely get the job done next time out.

He explained: “What a season for them. Two years on the spin they have been incredibly unlucky.

“Last year they lost their way towards the end of the season, this year they haven’t.

“They have been so unfortunate, they have been magnificent. They have pushed Man City all the way and it’s been an amazing title race.

“I’m sure Mikel Arteta will go away this summer, have a think about what they need, maybe add a couple of players to that squad and make sure they come back next season and challenge Man City even harder, which I genuinely think they will next year.

“I think they have been absolutely incredible.”

Of course, it’s hard to argue with Redknapp’s prediction, it does promise to be a summer of change at Arsenal.

And although disappointment will understandably be rife at the club right now, there’s definitely so much reason for optimism.

That being said, Roberto De Zerbi’s announcement that he’ll leave Brighton & Hove Albion imminently could potentially present a big transfer opportunity for Arsenal.

There’s a lot of decisions to be made, and on the evidence of this season and last, Arsenal fans can trust the club to get them right.
