'This year': Thierry Henry says Man City have a player who has genuinely stepped up for them all season

Thierry Henry was full of praise for one Manchester City player after his side’s 3-1 victory against West Ham United.

The entire City squad merits appreciation after becoming the first English team in history to win four successive league titles.

But as is the case in every league triumph, a couple of players stand out from the crowd.

Thierry Henry hails one Man City player after West Ham win

Phil Foden is certainly one of them, who Thierry Henry lauded after Manchester City defeated West Ham to win the Premier League title.

Henry said via the Premier League’s official website: “Rodri missed some games, Kevin De Bruyne missed some games and Phil Foden was never the answer but this year? He answered every single call. It didn’t matter [what position he played], he made sure that when Kevin De Bruyne came back that the team would be really high.”

“What they did is just stupid really, they do it all the time. Every time a team tries to stay with them and keep their pace, they burn their wings, every time they implode.”

City’s number 47 reached 19 league goals with his brilliant brace against the Hammers on the final day of the campaign.

Phil Foden rose to the occasion once again

As Thierry Henry stated, Phil Foden has risen to the challenge time and again for Manchester City and he did so again in his side’s win against West Ham.

The visitors could have provided the hosts a tricky day at the Etihad Stadium — a possibility Pep Guardiola was prepared for ahead of the contest.

However, Foden eased the home crowd’s nerves with a thunderbolt of an opening goal in the second minute.

In the 18 minute, the Englishman helped City double their lead with an exquisite finish from inside the box.

Phil Foden, who was deployed as a left-sided attacking midfielder against West Ham was a delight to watch even aside from his goals.

Foden’s passing range was otherworldly, as he picked his teammates out time and again with inch-perfect passes from deeper areas.

The Stockport-born technician also popped up in central midfielder time and again as he dictated the tempo of the game.

Phil Foden especially showcased against West Ham that when Manchester City have demanded a hero, he has been the answer, as Thierry Henry claimed.
