What Arsenal fans sung at full-time against Everton after finding out they wouldn't win the Premier League title

Despite a 2-1 victory against Everton, Arsenal missed out on the Premier League title as Manchester City did their bit against West Ham United.

The Gunners went behind in the clash after Idrissa Gueye curled home a free-kick but they fought back through Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kai Havertz – who scored the winner.

City, meanwhile, cruised to a pretty convincing 3-1 win against the visiting Hammers and claimed their fourth Premier League title – a record feat.

Despite a bitterly disappointing afternoon for Arsenal supporters, they remained in full voice and it has just come to light what they sang at full-time.

Arsenal fans chant Mikel Arteta’s name at full-time

At the full-time whistle, Arsenal fans offered Mikel Arteta their full support despite missing out on the league title.

“The Arsenal fans sing ‘We’ve got super Mik Arteta’ they know they’ve made progress again this season and have taken the title race to the final day,” wrote BBC Sport journalist Alex Howell.

Evidently, as Howell alluded to, the Emirates faithful recognised that Arteta’s men have progressed and added a steeliness to their game – which they didn’t have this time last year.

A telling summer transfer window awaits

A telling summer transfer window awaits the North Londoners, who still have a small gap to bridge to reach City’s level.

It might only require one or two players to replace them at the summit and perhaps a striker should be at the top of their priority list.

Benjamin Sesko has been heavily linked, as has Joshua Zirkzee – could one of them be the man to take Arsenal to the next level and to a first Premier League title since 2004?

Only time will tell but clearly, they have an elite manager who fans trust.
