Premier League manager has just confirmed 'leader' is set to leave after holding talks with Newcastle

Newcastle United ended the Premier League season in seventh.

A turbulent campaign ended with a 4-2 win at Brentford to give Newcastle a great chance of qualifying for Europe.

Eddie Howe’s side will be in the Europa Conference League should Manchester City beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final later this month.

It has been a long and gruelling season and while Europe’s third-tier club competition would not have been the target before a ball was kicked, it is at least something to show for such a demanding season.

We saw the celebrations from West Ham upon winning it last year. Oh, how sweet it would be to see Newcastle do something similar next season.

Still, there’s a lot to do before then.

Not only are the club off on an imminent post-season tour of Australia but there is the small matter of a summer transfer window to navigate.

While the dust has not settled on the end of the Premier League season, one reported target is confirmed to be on the move.

Premier League manager has just confirmed ‘leader’ will be leaving after holding talks with Newcastle

Speaking after their defeat to Chelsea on Sunday, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola confirmed defender Lloyd Kelly would be leaving the south coast this summer.

The 25-year-old, who has previously backed himself as a “leader”, is thought to have held talks with Newcastle over the prospect of a move to St James’ Park upon the expiration of his contract this summer.

“Dominic’s [Solanke] happy here, but I think we’ve seen the last of Lloyd Kelly today, his performances have been really good,” said the Bournemouth boss (via BBC Radio Solent Sport).

Lloyd Kelly won’t be the only defensive signing Newcastle make this summer

The potential arrival of Kelly will no doubt help boost defensive numbers next season.

Given the rather poor defensive displays this time around, that is a huge help.

More excitingly, it seems Kelly won’t be the only addition.

Tosin Adarabioyo is also believed to be closing in a move to the club, meaning the defence could look very differently indeed next time around.
