Conor Gallagher posts message on Instagram after Chelsea's final game, Trevoh Chalobah responds

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher and his teammates managed to finish the Premier League season on a positive note.

The Blues beat Bournemouth 2-1 at Stamford Bridge to secure sixth place.

It means they will be in the Europa League next season, as long as Manchester City manage to beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final.

It has been a really good campaign for Gallagher, who has been an ever-present under Mauricio Pochettino.

In total, the 24-year-old has made 50 appearances for Chelsea. Despite his importance to the side, he has still been linked with a switch to Aston Villa.

Conor Gallagher’s Instagram message

After what has been quite an up and down season, Gallagher took to Instagram to thank Chelsea fans for their support.

He also shared how much it means for his father, with teammate Trevoh Chalobah writing “blue blood” in response to Gallagher’s post.

Like Gallagher, Chalobah has also become an important player for Pochettino.

Since returning from injury, he has been a regular under the Argentine and has made a big impact.

In Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion before their victory over Bournemouth, the defender made nine clearances. It was more than any other player on the pitch, according to WhoScored.

Conor Gallagher’s contract

The reason why Gallagher is being linked to Villa is because of his contract situation.

The Englishman’s existing deal expires next year and he is no closer to putting pen to paper on a new one.

Mason Mount found himself in the same situation last summer before he was allowed to join Manchester United, a move that has not worked out for him yet.

Because of injuries, Mount missed a lot of the Premier League campaign and was only able to make five starts in the competition.

Gallagher now risks leaving Chelsea in similar fashion if his contract situation is not sorted out soon.
