Neco Williams sends heartfelt eight-word message to Jurgen Klopp

Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams sent a heartfelt message yesterday before Jurgen Klopp took charge of his final game as the Liverpool manager.

Forest signed Williams from Liverpool for £17 million in the summer of 2022.

The defender became one of the first players added to the ranks after the club had won promotion back to the Premier League.

Forest star Williams had struggled for game time under Klopp amid the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold at first-team level.

He opted for a move to the City Ground and during the 2023/24 campaign it’s fair to say that he’s improved on last season.

After missing out on the final three games with injury, Williams yesterday took to social media to wish Klopp well on his way out of Liverpool.

Forest defender Neco Williams sends message to Jurgen Klopp ahead of Liverpool exit

The 23-year-old is only going to improve at Forest and clearly, he values the work Klopp did to develop him as a player.

Williams was sent on loan for six months to Fulham before he signed for Forest on a permanent deal.

The youngster only played 33 times for the Anfield giants and it always felt inevitable that he’d leave for regular first-team football.

Ahead of Klopp taking charge of Liverpool for the final time yesterday, Williams posted on social media a heartfelt eight-word message.

He said: “Was a pleasure to play under you boss.”

Williams will hope to kick on again next season

Since Nuno Espirito Santo came to the club, Williams has been brilliant for Forest.

It’s a real shame that he had to miss out on the final three games but he did stamp his authority as the first-choice right-back during the second half of the season.

The challenge for Williams next season is to kick on once again.

During 2023/24, the defender has registered just one assist and perhaps he would hope to improve that next season.

Under Espirito Santo, he should get the chance to shine at right-back once again.

Gonzalo Montiel is going to head back to Sevilla and that will leave Williams as the only senior option in his position.

Clearly, Williams has a lot of affection for his former boss Klopp and this was a nice touch from the Forest man yesterday.

Now, it will be full steam ahead for Williams on the fitness front and hopefully he can return stronger next season.
