Piers Morgan sums up the feeling at Arsenal after Man City's title win with one word

Broadcaster and Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has now summed up the mood at the club after Manchester City beat them to the Premier League title.

Despite beating Everton 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, Arsenal could only watch on from afar as Manchester City lifted the Premier League trophy for the fourth time in as many seasons.

As the Cityzens got the win they needed against West Ham United, there was nothing the Gunners could do to prevent them from being crowned champions.

The Arsenal fans in the Emirates Stadium were passionate in their support of the players on Sunday, despite the fact that the title race culminated in the favour of Manchester City. Mikel Arteta has built a talented team, and is convinced that the best is still yet to come.

Addressing the home crowd after the final whistle, Arteta made a promise of future success to Arsenal fans.

However, in the immediate aftermath of their 2-1 win over the Toffees, there was despondency amongst the Arsenal players who were aware that their efforts had not been enough to end the club’s twenty year wait for a Premier League title triumph. Piers Morgan took to X to sum up the mood at that moment with a single word: “Sickening.”

Prior to this match, Morgan had been vociferous in his belief that fortune would favour Arsenal and that they would win the league.

A second place finish after such an impressive campaign will have been tough to accept for Arsenal fans, but there are plenty of positives to take from this season. The Gunners are clearly heading in the right direction and are well-placed to build on this.

How Arsenal must use this disappointment

The North London club will now seek to make progress again this summer. Arteta and sporting director Edu will look to strengthen the first-team squad with investments in key areas.

Sunday will have also marked the end for a number of Arsenal players. The likes of Mohamed Elneny and Cedric Soares are certain to move on, and there will be further departures over the course of the summer.

Arsenal now need to make sure that the disappointment of how this season ended doesn’t negatively impact their mentality heading into the new campaign. They must use this frustration to fuel them.
