‘Special’ £51m striker who Arsenal reportedly to sign now reacts to Jurrien Timber’s return

A striker who has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal has reacted to Jurrien Timber’s return to action.

Jurrien Timber made his long-awaited comeback from injury during the 2-1 win over Everton on Sunday.

It was just the Dutchman’s second appearance in the Premier League since his £34.3 million%20in%20achievable%20add%2Dons.) switch from Ajax last summer.

An ACL injury picked up on his Premier League debut back in August has kept Timber sidelined for the majority of the campaign.

The versatile defender replaced Ben White in the 73rd minute as the Gunners searched for a winner.

While Arsenal missed out on the title to Manchester City yesterday, the club’s focus will now be firmly on the summer transfer window and one of their striker targets has sent a message to Timber on social media.

Arsenal target Joshua Zirkzee sends message to Timber

With Arsenal targeting attacking reinforcements this summer, Joshua Zirkzee continues to be linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

It was claimed on Friday that Zirkzee’s agents have been pushing for a move to Arsenal.

Now, the Bologna striker has reacted to Timber’s latest post on Instagram after the defender returned to action yesterday.

Timber wrote: “Felt great to play in front of the fans again after 9 months. Compliments to the team for the great performance, it was a joy watching you throughout the season. Till next year Gooners.”

His Arsenal teammates flocked beneath the post to congratulate him on his return while Zirzkee also left a comment.

Zirkzee’s stats for Bologna this season

Timber’s return to action was a welcome boost for Arsenal and the defender will now have the summer to prepare for a huge second season at the Emirates. But there is still work to be done on Arteta’s squad and many feel they need a prolific goalscorer.

Kai Havertz has stepped up since the turn of the year and netted the winner against Everton on Sunday.

Yet, Zirkzee would certainly offer something different up front for Arteta. The ‘special’ striker stands at 6’3” but boasts impressive pace for a player for his height.

The Dutchman has netted 12 times and provided seven assists in 37 appearances for Bologna this term.

But Zirkzee won’t come cheap, with Bologna reportedly set to demand around £51 million for their prized asset this summer.
