European club confirm £10m-rated player has returned to Leeds after Jesse Marsch urges him to leave

A decision has been made on one of Leeds United’s loan army after he jumped ship to move to a European club last summer, just 24 hours after helping to save his side from relegation.

Robin Koch and Luis Sinisterra’s future has been sorted, with the duo joining their loan clubs permanently from Leeds. Koch joins Frankfurt on a free, while Sinisterra will join Bournemouth for a £20m figure.

Six others remain on the books at Leeds of the eight that used Victor Orta’s relegation loan clause to leave Elland Road last summer. It is likely The 49ers will look to sell the remaining six this summer.

Gladbach want Max Wober, but are struggling to meet Leeds’ £14.5m asking price. Diego Llorente is still waiting to find out if he will be joining Roma for a fee of £4m, but Rasmus Kristensen is set to return.

Marc Roca is also expected to join Kristensen in returning, while Everton’s sporting director Kevin Thelwell says The Toffees will open talks with Leeds about a deal for Jack Harrison “in the coming weeks”.

That leaves Brenden Aaronson, who started Union’s 2-1 win over Freiburg on the weekend. A win that saw Union save themselves from relegation but less than 24 hours later and they have confirmed a decision.

Union Berlin confirm Brenden Aaronson return to Leeds

Aaronson struggled at Leeds with just one goal and three assists in 40 games and his form was pretty similar at Union, having a hand in four goals in 38. But, he did improve in the second half of the season.

The USA playmaker started on Sunday as Union needed to win to survive relegation and laid on an assist for Union to equalise. Then, having been subbed, Union scored a winner in injury time to stay up.

However, that was not enough to convince Union to keep Aaronson and the £25m Leeds signing is now due to return to Elland Road, as confirmed by the German club on Monday with a post on their website.

What next for Aaronson? Jesse Marsch gave his verdict

So, it leaves Aaronson’s future up for debate. The chances of him playing for Leeds again seems unlikely but Daniel Farke does need a no.10 in his squad and given he is young, there might be some scope.

But if there is a buyer, there will be a sale. Reports state that The 49ers are open to Aaronson’s sale for just £10m and Jesse Marsch has told him to leave Leeds and find a club that suits his style of play.

“I just want to see him excel, I want to see him go somewhere where it feeds into the type of football that he can play, where he can be rewarded. I think he’ll find that, I’m not sure where but he will find that.”
