Donald Trump's legal team signaled Monday that it intended to rest its defense in the former president's hush money trial.
After a lunch break, Trump's attorney, Todd Blanche, told Justice Juan Merchan that the defense had one witness — and it was not the former president.
"Todd Blanche, more or less, just confirmed that Trump will not take the stand in his defense. He just said they have 'a witness in the back,' but the defense will likely rest today," New York Daily News correspondent Molly Crane-Newman reported from the Manhattan courthouse.

Moments earlier, Trump's attorney, Alina Habba, insisted that Trump still wanted to testify.
"Well, he's got to listen to his attorneys," she explained. "It's not as much what he wants to do. We know he wants to testify. He is willing. He is able."
"He has nothing to hide at all. He's absolutely ready to tell the truth," Habba remarked. "So the real question is one that would be discussed within the legal team, and of course, we'll discuss it with our clients."
