Russian national indicted in sale of N.J. company’s computer network on the dark web

A man from Russia has been indicted in a scheme to access a New Jersey company’s computer network and sell it to cybercriminals on the dark web.

The indictment charges Evgeniy Doroshenko, 31, of Astrkhan, Russia, with wire fraud and fraud and related activity in connection with computers.

Federal prosecutors have alleged that Doroshenko gained access to computer networks at various companies, including one headquartered in Bergen County, and sold access to them on the dark web.

From 2019 to 2024, he allegedly sold the information on cybercrime forums, which are typically used by people who partake in email compromises, exfiltration of data, ransomware attacks and other illegal online activities, authorities said.

He started victimizing the Bergen County based company in January 2024, officials alleged. Authorities did not name the company. Cyber attacks have compromised information at hospitals, schools, and other targets across the state.
