Report: European giants are now preparing to make £21m offer for 'hugely-talented' Chelsea player

While the transfer window is not officially open yet, Chelsea could already be about to sell one of their players.

There could be quite a few exits at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea have spent a lot of money in recent transfer windows and will now want to avoid breaking profit and sustainability rules.

It means they may have to sell some players this summer, with the likes of Conor Gallagher and Ian Maatsen already being linked with moves away from west London.

It has been claimed that Aston Villa are one club who are interested in the former.

Chelsea could be about to complete first sale

Maatsen is already on loan at Borussia Dortmund, and it looks like the left-back could be staying there this summer.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Maatsen is set to be Dortmund’s first summer signing.

The outlet claims that the club are preparing an offer for Maatsen, which is set to be worth €35m (£21m).

Dortmund’s desire to keep hold of the 22-year-old comes as no surprise. He has been a revelation for them since joining on loan back in January.

Maatsen has played a key role in the German side reaching the Champions League final, making six appearances and scoring one goal in the competition en route to Wembley.

Ian Maatsen could be one of the deals of the summer

If Dortmund really can get Maatsen for just over £20m, then you are looking at an absolute bargain.

The Dutchman is a player who has a lot to offer. For example, he is extremely versatile, able to start at left-back and in attack.

In the past, Maatsen has been described as a “hugely-talented” footballer by former Coventry City teammate Simon Moore.

At Dortmund, he is proving to be just that. So again, if the Champions League finalists can obtain him permanently for £21m this summer, then that would be fantastic business for them.
