South American set to fly to London for big meeting next week after West Ham's £15.4 million bid

West Ham United appear to be leading the race to sign Corinthians starlet Wesley Gassova this summer.

Wesley Gassova emerged as a transfer target for West Ham at the end of last month, and we’ve allegedly made a £15.4 million bid for his signature already.

There will be a big shakeup at the London Stadium this summer, and we’ve already told you how incoming manager Julen Lopetegui plans to make six exciting new signings.

David Moyes worked wonders but the squad he’s left behind is an unbalanced and ageing one, with just seven first-team players under the age of 29!

In addition to that, read here to see the 12 Hammers who have been linked with leaving the London Stadium this summer.

One area where Lopetegui needs to prioritise strengthening is the left wing department, and Wesley could well be the man for the job.

But why are we in such a strong position to sign him?

So, the Hammers are apparently primed to bring the teenage winger to the London Stadium when the summer transfer window opens.

He’s a real talent and one of the hottest commodities in South America right now, so signing him would represent a real coup for West Ham.

According to a report from Globo Esporte, Corinthians president Augusto Melo is flying to Europe to iron out a deal for Wesley Gassova.

West Ham are believed to be in pole position to sign the 19-year-old whizz-kid, after Tim Steidten’s successful scouting mission to Brazil.

The Hammers have already made an €18 million (£15.4 million) bid for Wesley, but Corinthians are demanding closer to €25 million (£21.4 million).

West Ham desperately need to sign a right-footed left winger, so Wesley Gassova will have pretty much a free run at that role next season.

He’s an exceptionally talented young player with immense skill, blistering pace and a wicked shot in his arsenal.

Added to that, we already have a couple of Brazilians at the London Stadium in the form of Lucas Paqueta and Luizao.

The Hammers are in pole position to sign the talented young winger. Whether or not we are prepared to meet Corinthians demands for him is another matter entirely though.
