Chelsea have told their 'fantastic' player they will sell him if someone bids £38m this summer - journalist

Chelsea have reportedly agreed with one of the players on their books that they’ll sell him this summer if an interested buyer meets their set valuation.

The Blues wrapped up their 2023/24 season last Sunday by securing sixth spot in the Premier League, so the attention of supporters may now turn on what happens in the upcoming summer transfer window.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the young squad shapes up at Stamford Bridge by the time pre-season comes around.

Chelsea will sell attacker for £38m this summer

Journalist Ben Jacobs has now reported that Chelsea will be prepared to sell Romelu Lukaku in this next transfer window if someone bids the £38m asking price.

It is explained that it’s been communicated between the club and the striker their terms for the summer.

He’s due to return from a season-long loan spell at Roma, where he’s scored 21 goals in 47 appearances.

Apparently, Napoli could be keen on signing the 31-year-old attacker, while there’s interest from Saudi Arabia as well.

Jacobs has told GIVEMESPORT: “Chelsea want €45m (£38m) for Romelu Lukaku. Their position hasn’t changed since last summer. Al-Hilal had a bid for this amount accepted, but Lukaku wanted to stay in Italy.

“There is no formal release clause, but there is a verbal agreement between Chelsea and Lukaku that he will be sold if someone tables a bid for this amount.

“There remains interest from Saudi, but not from Al-Hilal anymore. The Napoli links could gather pace since their new sporting director Giovanni Manna was the driving force behind Lukaku’s proposed move to Juventus last summer.”

Romelu Lukaku already has heart set on next move

90min recently claimed in May that Lukaku would prefer to rejoin Roma once his loan deal with the Italians is over.

There’s too much bad blood to predict the Belgian centre-forward returning to Stamford Bridge and playing, so a permanent transfer may be the best solution for all parties involved this summer.

Once described as “fantastic” by Thomas Tuchel (beIN SPORTS), Lukaku has rediscovered form in Rome.

The Chelsea Chronicle thinks an experienced frontman of Lukaku’s pedigree is exactly the kind of striker that would be great to compete and challenge with Nicolas Jackson for the No 9 position next season.

It cost the Blues a mammoth £97.5m (Sky Sports).to sign Lukaku from Inter Milan back in 2021. It’s got to go down as one of the club’s worst investments ever.
