'Electric' midfielder is available for loan next season and Tottenham should be signing him - opinion

Tottenham Hotspur now have the opportunity to chase a loan signing who could transform Ange Postecoglou’s prospects next season.

As the dust settles on Spurs’ campaign, which is currently being elongated by a tour of Australia, there’s certainly a lot of business for Daniel Levy to tend to.

Ange Postecoglou’s first campaign as Tottenham boss was a promising one but he needs stronger players to fulfil his ambition for the club.

Fortunately, Spurs’ finances are thought to be among the most healthy in the league, meaning they could really attack this window.

Perhaps the lack of Champions League football will be an unfortunate sticking point for some deals, but Postecoglou has already outlined that he didn’t want players to sign on that basis anyway.

In truth, Tottenham could probably add a top player in almost every area of their squad, and depending on the players they are able to shift, they could well do so.

But regardless of what happens elsewhere, one loan opportunity now looks far too good to turn down.

Tottenham must make loan move for Xavi Simons after news he’s available

It’s now been reported by Fabrizio Romano on CaughtOffside that Paris Saint Germain would be willing to sanction another loan deal for Xavi Simons this season.

The midfielder enjoyed a monstrously good campaign for RB Leipzig on loan and will return to his parent club PSG.

And although the French side are completely unwilling to sell Simons, it is ‘likely’ that the 21-year-old will head out on loan again.

Therefore there could be a huge opportunity for Tottenham to bag one of Europe’s most exciting and dynamic attacking midfielders.

And although a permanent deal isn’t possible right now, who knows what the future could then hold.

Perhaps Simons would be worried by the lack of Champions League football – a competition that has showcased his talent this season.

But Tottenham could surely negate that concern with all the excitement surrounding their manager, their project, and their rich facilities.

It’s an opportunity that Spurs definitely shouldn’t let pass by without an enquiry at least, an ‘electric’ talent who could dovetail with James Maddison extremely well.

That being said, Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker have just agreed on three transfers Tottenham need to target.
