'Maestro': Alexis Saelemaekers lauds Arsenal player on Instagram as loan spell comes to an end

Alexis Saelemaekers and Andros Townsend were amongst those to laud Albert Sambi Lokonga on Instagram after the Arsenal midfielder bid farewell to Luton Town following his loan spell at Kenilworth Road.

Albert Sambi Lokonga is one player with a question mark hanging over his future at the Emirates, with the Belgian spending the last 18 months out on loan.

The 24-year-old struggled while at Crystal Palace, and it did appear that his loan with the Hatters may go a similar way, with Luton even discussing terminating Lokonga’s loan in January.

However, Lokonga silenced his doubters and grew and grew as the campaign went on. Unfortunately, it was not enough to help Rob Edwards’ men stay in the Premier League.

Lokonga has now taken to Instagram to confirm that he will not be staying at Luton beyond this season following their relegation, and that saw the £17 million man receive plenty of plaudits.

Hatters’ stance of signing Arsenal midfielder permanently

Arsenal face a bit of a dilemma over what exactly to do with Lokonga over the summer, particularly as his stock has probably not been higher since his arrival than it is right now.

Some Gunners fans may want to see Mikel Arteta hand him another chance, and perhaps he may get that opportunity in pre-season, particularly amid doubts over the future of Thomas Partey.

Luton would have loved to have signed Lokonga permanently had they stayed in the Premier League, and you would not be surprised if a number of top-flight sides had their eye on securing his signature this summer.

Arsenal may want to cash in, but they may benefit even more if he leaves on loan again, joining a side higher up the table and thrives once more.

And it does seem too soon to rule out the idea of Lokonga playing for the Gunners again after a brilliant season.
