Report: £27m Arsenal player's stubbornness has caused issue with Arteta, but pair get on better now

The stubbornness of one Arsenal player would sometimes lead to a difference of opinion with Mikel Arteta, but their relationship is now much better.

Arsenal appear to be on the verge of greatness, with the Gunners taking the Premier League title race to final day this past season. And it would be no surprise to see them go one step further next year.

Mikel Arteta has built a squad which has the potential to rival Manchester City, and one of the keys to that was clearly signing the right characters.

But not everything has gone to plan for Arsenal along the way, and it seems that one of those to make life a little more challenging for the Gunners boss was Leandro Trossard.

Leandro Trossard has often had differences of opinion with Mikel Arteta

Arsenal signed Trossard after months of being linked with Mykhailo Mudryk, and that would prove to be a blessing in disguise, with the Belgian becoming an inspired signing.

Trossard cost £27 million – a steal in today’s game – and he has scored a number of vital goals over the last 18 months, including the recent winner at Old Trafford which ensured that the title race would go down to the final day.

But according to The Times, Trossard has not always been the easiest to manage behind the scenes, with his stubbornness occasionally causing issues with Arteta.

It is noted that any problems between the pair are behind them now – which is probably not that surprising when Trossard has had a much more consistent run in the side in recent months.

Why Rio Ferdinand has been shocked by the Belgian

Of course, not every player is going to be the easiest to manage, and there are probably certain figures at every single club who can be tricky at times.

Ultimately, Arsenal need those players demanding even more from the squad now, and you could imagine that Trossard is one of those.

Rio Ferdinand shared how he was shocked by how much of an impact Trossard has had at Arsenal, with only Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka scoring more league goals this season.

Perhaps Arteta has had to work on his relationship with Trossard at times, but there is no question that the move for the Belgian has proved to be a masterstroke.
