Wortwell Bell pub reopens after car crashed through the door

A pub has returned to normal service this week after a car crashed into the building on Friday.

Nobody sustained significant injuries during the incident at the Wortwell Bell, which led to the arrest of a woman for drink driving and dangerous driving.

Norfolk Police said: “Police were called to High Road in Wortwell on Friday after a car collided with a building at around 11.30pm. The driver fled the scene.

A car struck the Wortwell Bell on Friday evening.

“Enquiries led officers to a property in The Willows in Reddinghall where a woman in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving.

“She was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning and released on bail pending further investigations.”

The Wortwell Bell has since released a post on social media to say that it is now open for business again.

It said: “As most of you know we had a horrific incident on Friday night. A car crashed into the pub causing major damage to the front right entrance.

“A massive thanks to all who helped and rallied round. And thanks to Jordan Developments who answered our emergency call and had troops on site in the early hours.

“All has now been cleared, boarded up, structure supported and fenced off and most importantly safe and secure. We are now open as usual. We have a second entrance at the front and a rear entrance door from the rear car park. And thank goodness no one was seriously injured.”
