Rangers target clipped in emotional ‘breakup’ with current club as Ibrox insider fuels transfer fire

Albion Rrahmani has certainly got Rangers fans talking this week.

The Kosovan striker, 23, has banged in 19 goals in 30 games for Rapid Bucharest with Rangers links popping up between Kosovo, Romania and now Scotland.

A mobile, dynamic forward with plenty of room to grow, Albion Rrahmani certainly fits the bill when it comes to Rangers’ revamped player trading hopes.

But with interest credited from the likes of Benfica, Aston Villa and Napoli, Rangers do appear to face a battle in getting the striker to sign.

Now, on his last appearance in front of the Rapid Bucharest fans it very much looks like Rrahmani has been clipped looking like he is saying an emotional goodbye.

Rrahmani says Rapid goodbyes?

As the Romanian SuperLiga wound to a close last night, Albion Rrahmani played 73 minutes in what might be his final game for the club.

Whilst the Kosovan never found the back of the net, a 2-0 victory over city rivals and Romanian champions FCSB isn’t exactly the worst way to sign off.

But after an explosive season in Bucharest, Rrahmani was clipped saluting the Rapid supporters in a video which is sure to raise a few eyebrows regarding the forward’s future.

Something tells us he wasn’t getting quite this emotional about a 6th place finish.

The clip was also commented on by leading Romanian football site PRO Sport who not only touched on the Rangers interest, but quoted the local commentary team.

Claiming that Rrahmani’s substitution was met by a solid minute of chanting, the report quotes Digi Sport commentators as saying: “It looks like a breakup! Maybe they know something we don’t.”

Rangers interest in Rrahmani ‘strong’

We’re all well aware by now that Albion Rrahmani is a wanted man across Europe.

Whilst Rangers will naturally be an attractive proposition for the striker, with Champions League competition and all that talk about high price tags we don’t blame you for keeping your powder dry.

But one leading voice in Rangers fan media has just been claiming that Ibrox interest in the striker is indeed ‘strong’.

Speaking on the Rangers Review’s Morning Briefing (approx 4:30), Stevie Clifford of Four Lads Had a Dream has been talking about this summer’s early transfer links.

Also touching on reports surrounding Jose Cordoba, Clifford said: “From what I’m led to believe, there is strong interest in both of them.”

Later, Clifford added: “I think it is true to say that we’re definitely interested in both these boys and it might be a wee bit more advanced than what we think.”

On top of Cordoba and Rrahmani, Rangers have also been heavily to linked to South African midfielder Relebohile Mofokeng.
