'Not done it at all': Jeff Stelling says £21m Man United man has been the biggest disappointment in the PL

Jeff Stelling has now claimed that one Manchester United player has been the biggest disappointment in the Premier League this season.

Erik ten Hag’s side are certainly used to a bit of criticism coming their way by this point, which is perhaps fair given their lacklustre campaign.

Alan Shearer recently labelled their season as a ‘disaster’, even if it could still be salvaged against Manchester City on Saturday.

The FA Cup final is perhaps a chance for Ten Hag to save his job amid all of the uncertainty that seems to shroud his future.

But either way, the summer promises big changes at Old Trafford, with several players expected to leave and arrive.

Both Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial have already announced their departures – moves that seem sensible for the club.

And United fans would surely be delighted if those kinds of profiles were replaced with players like Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite – marking a fresh new era.

That being said, Jeff Stelling mentioned two different United players when speaking on talkSPORT today.

Jeff Stelling believes Sofyan Amarbat has been seriously disappointing at Manchester United

Jeff Stelling was tasked with choosing his ‘biggest disappointment of the season’ and initially mentioned Marcus Rashford alongside Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips.

However, the pundit then chose on-loan Sofyan Amrabat as the most underwhelming.

Man United reportedly have an option to buy Amrabat permanently for £21m this summer, one they will not exercise.

Sharing his thoughts, Stelling said: “Biggest disappointment of the season? This is a tough one because there have been a few, and the obvious suspects are Marcus Rashford and Kalvin Phillips.

“I might just go for Sofyan Amrabat, who was such a star before he came to Manchester United and unfortunately just has not done it at all.”

Of course, Amrabat did enjoy a lot of interest in the summer before Manchester United were eventually able to get a deal done.

Liverpool were also said to be seriously interested, but the deal simply hasn’t paid dividends in the end.

Amrabat can be forgiven to an extent, Old Trafford hasn’t been the easiest place for any player to settle in the last few years.

But parting ways definitely seems best for all parties.

That being said, it seems as if one Premier League player may now sub a move to Ten Hag’s side in the coming weeks.
