‘Wouldn’t be surprised’: Journalist wouldn’t be shocked if Tottenham now signed £45m player

Tottenham will need a new striker this summer.

The north London club still haven’t replaced Harry Kane after selling the England captain last summer, while there are also questions to be asked about Richarlison’s future at Spurs.

Regardless, Tottenham do need a new striker this summer, and according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Ivan Toney could be the man to come to Spurs this summer.

Ivan Toney to Tottenham is possible

Jones spoke about who Tottenham could sign this summer, claiming that he wouldn’t be surprised if Toney was the man they went for.

“The big one will be the Richarlison replacement, they need to get a proper goalscorer here. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go for Ivan Toney, but Santiago Gimenez is another realistic option here,” Jones said.

Ivan Toney could be perfect for Spurs

Toney to Tottenham could be something of a match made in heaven.

The striker has shown over the past two years that he’s very capable of scoring at Premier League level, and Spurs are currently desperate for someone who can finish the chances they create.

Tottenham are missing someone who can properly lead their line and find the net consistently, and Toney is that player to a tee.

Valued at just £45m ahead of this summer transfer window, Toney is also an affordable option for Tottenham.

Yes, there have been doubts about the player’s personality, but some of Spurs’ greatest players of all-time have had a bit of an ego about them.

Toney is certainly worthy of a move to a top club this summer, and Spurs would be getting something of a coup if they manage to pull this one off.

Toney is likely to be on the move this summer, and Tottenham are certainly a club to keep an eye on in the race for his signature.
