'Wow': Ian Wright and Alan Shearer left blown away by £100m forward linked with Arsenal move

Both Ian Wright and Alan Shearer have almost been running out of superlatives for one forward who’s recently been linked with an Arsenal move.

Following yesterday’s disappointment, finishing second to Manchester City, the post-mortem of Mikel Arteta’s efforts this season have already begun.

Many believe that Arsenal still just need to add a superstar striker, someone who can rival Erling Haaland’s level of scoring.

And then there are those who believe a centre-forward shouldn’t just be the priority, Micah Richards stating that a midfielder should be high on the list too.

The margins between Arsenal and Man City have been so small this season, and it is hard to decide exactly where Arteta should focus his funds.

As was once again demonstrated this season, the Gunners will need to be near perfect to beat Pep Guardiola’s team to the title, they simply can’t afford any adjustment periods.

And although there’s a credible argument to suggest that Arsenal don’t need a new striker, it certainly wouldn’t hurt their chances across all competitions.

Both Ian Wright and Alan Shearer have been amazed by Arsenal target Alexander Isak

With that in mind, both Ian Wright and Alan Shearer have been delivering heavy praise for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

The £100m-rated man, who is now regularly linked with a move to north London, scored again away to Brentford yesterday, and also provided a superb assist.

Speaking on the BBC’s Match of the Day, the pundits were blown away by Isak, who has enjoyed a superb 2024 thus far.

Shearer initially said: “I mean Isak, it’s 21 league goals he’s got in 27 starts and what about this for a cross [his assist for Jacob Murphy’s goal].

Wright interjected: “Wow, that’s fantastic.”

Shearer: “It’s incredible, puts it on a plate there for Murphy.”

Would Bruno Guimaraes be an even better signing for Arsenal this summer?

As well as praising Isak, Shearer was also amazed by Bruno Guimaraes, another star linked with a move to Arsenal.

He continued: “The big question I suppose is, and the rumour is, is that will they both be at Newcastle next season?

“Well, I certainly hope so, I mean they are two top quality players who have had very good seasons again, those two along with Anthony Gordon – been really, really good.”

Of course, Arsenal fans will be hoping that at least one of those names will be leaving Newcastle, and they’d probably be quite content with either.

Both signings have their merits, and such commendation from the likes of Wright and Shearer for both Isak and Guimaraes does speak volumes.

All that being said, perhaps a different Premier League player proved why he would be Arsenal’s perfect signing yesterday.
