England Euro 2024 Squad: Big talking points…

There are a few shocks here, that have stunned England fans. Most notably, England veteran and former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been shunned from the squad after a terrible season with Ajax.

Marcus Rashford also has no place. This was arguably the biggest debate, and it appears Southgate has placed his trust in him or Newcastle‘s Anthony Gordon. He went with the latter.

There is also no room for Ben Chilwell. The Chelsea star, despite featuring in the last Three Lions friendlies, has been exiled from the group.

As far as inclusions go, there are also a few surprises. Despite being injured for half the season, Manchester United’s Luke Shaw has been picked as a left-back option. Similarly, Kobbie Mainoo is picked despite featuring just twice for the Three Lions amid a breakout season at Old Trafford.

Ivan Toney also has a place, despite being out for eight months after a suspension for breaking Football Association gambling rules.

Curtis Jones, Jarrad Branthwaite and uncapped Jarrel Quansah also book a spot. Bold moves from Gareth. But the biggest eye-rubber of all, Adam Wharton – but it’s probably deserved. The Crystal Palace man has been fantastic.

Nevertheless, what a squad. But Southgate now needs to dwindle this down to 28 – as all can not book a place on the plane. Roll on Germany, the Three Lions are coming – and they’re bringing a side of world beaters with them.
