South Nottinghamshire Cricket League round-up

A fine performance in the field helped steer Southwell to an emphatic victory in the South Nottinghamshire League on Saturday.

They defeated Attenborough by 10 wickets after dismissing their visitors for 75 in the Division D duel at Top Ground.

Southwell snared eight catches to keep a tight grip on the Attenborough innings as Mark Bowie led the home attack with 4-24 from a terrific 12-over spell.

Mark Bowie took four wickets for Southwell.

He was backed up by two wickets apiece from Steve Wright, Alex Rainbow and Josh Evans as Southwell took control of the contest.

They then needed less than 14 overs to reach the required target as Ant Brown blasted 10 boundaries in his 52 not out.

Dan Collington claimed five wickets as Farndon secured a 55-run home victory against Burton Joyce Lions.

The hosts had been bowled out for 162 after batting first with Martyn Hill hitting 58 before Collington took 5-33 as Burton Joyce were bowled out for 107.

Newark Ransome & Marles are at the foot of the early standings in Division B after a third successive loss.

They were beaten by two wickets in a low-scoring clash with Cavaliers and Carrington 3rds at Kelham Road.

Tom Quinton had top-scored with 35 as Newark R&M were bowled out for 109 before a late unbeaten cameo of 47 from Safeer Ahmed steered the visitors to victory despite Sonu Charley claiming 4-21 for the hosts.

Collingham 2nds suffered their first defeat of the Division C season after a seven-wicket away loss at Hoveringham.

They were bowled out for 65 after being put into bat with last week's century-maker Jacob Fisher top-scored with 19.

David Pipes picked up a couple of wickets in the Hoveringham reply but the hosts had wrapped up the win inside 15 overs.

Tim Clipsham was in top form with the bat as Balderton 2nds beat Keyworth by seven wickets in Division F.

Keyworth had made 167-7 from their 45 overs after batting first with Ben Hall taking 3-34 for Balderton.

Clipsham then cracked an unbeaten 85 while Alan Jackson was 39 not out as Balderton secured the win with more than 12 overs to spare.

Runs were in short supply for Newark Ransome & Marles 2nds as they lost by three wickets at Poplars in Division H.

None of the R&M batters made double figures as they were bowled out for 40 by a Poplars team who edged to victory despite the excellent efforts of Puran Singh Koranga who claimed 5-16 from eight overs for the Newark team.

Farndon 2nds got off the mark in style in Division J as they bounced back from successive defeats with a 173-run win at Radcliffe-on-Trent 3rds.

Dave Adwick hit an unbeaten 75 while openers Daniel Hubbard and Ian Robinson made 72 and 53 respectively as Farndon finished on 239-7.

Richard Burroughs then took 3-16 while Tom Hill helped himself to 3-24 as Radcliffe-on-Trent were skittled out for 66.

Chris Rimmer and William Rimmer were Southwell's top scorers with 29 and 28 respectively as they were bowled out for 113.

David Rimmer and Martin Wagstaff both collected a couple of wickets apiece in the West Bridgfordians reply but an unbeaten 44 from Sam Fitzgerald ensured victory for the hosts.
