'Extraordinary talent': BBC pundit now claims he's not seen a player like 'special' Chelsea star in years

There is a lot of talent in this Chelsea squad.

Cole Palmer is the first name that comes to mind, then there are the likes of Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and captain Reece James.

Caicedo and Fernandez are the two most expensive signings in Chelsea‘s history, and the former is starting to show why the Blues spent so much money on him.

He scored arguably the goal of the season in his side’s final Premier League game against Bournemouth, catching Neto off his line from the centre of the pitch.

The above are just a few quality players Mauricio Pochettino currently has at his disposal.

Garth Crooks in awe of Chelsea man

There is quality all across the Premier League, but former Tottenham Hotspur forward Garth Crooks claims he has not seen anyone as gifted as Palmer in years.

He included the attacker in his Team of the Season for BBC Sport and wrote: “I haven’t seen a player so gifted in years. The game comes so effortlessly to Cole Palmer, he makes it look easy.

“The 22-year-old has just picked up the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season — to sit alongside his Chelsea Player of the Year awards — and quite rightly.

“To score 25 goals and have 15 assists in your first full season says volumes about this extraordinary talent. What awaits this young man is anyone’s guess, but England must accommodate this kind of special talent in a way it has failed to do so in the past.”

Has Cole Palmer done enough to start for England at Euro 2024?

Palmer has been named in England’s preliminary squad for Euro 2024 and you would expect him to make the final cut given the season he has had.

The actual debate to be had is whether the 22-year-old should be in Gareth Southgate’s starting XI.

Southgate has Bukayo Saka for the right flank, where Palmer has mostly played this season, but whether it is there or someone else, you have to find a way to get him into the team.

Thirty three goal contributions in as many Premier League appearances for Chelsea is simply ridiculous. Based on that, Palmer deserves to start at Euro 2024.
