Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley are the men in charge of transfers at Chelsea.
They were appointed as co-sporting directors following Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital‘s takeover of Chelsea.
However, their recruitment has been scrutinised, with the club spending a lot of money on transfers only to finish 12th last season and miss out on Champions League football again this term.
Mykhailo Mudryk, for example, was one of their signings and is one of the most expensive arrivals in Chelsea’s history. Yet he has only scored seven goals since arriving in west London.
Some of their other recruits have made a real impact this season, though, and that has not gone unnoticed within the club.

Cole Palmer has scored 25 goals in all competitions for Chelsea in the current campaign, while Malo Gusto has proven to be the perfect deputy to Reece James at right-back.
The 20-year-old registered an assist in the Blues’ last outing, a 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Some inside the club have been praising Stewart, Winstanley and co-director of recruitment and talent Joe Shields for such additions, according to The Guardian.
The outlet claims that Chelsea feel their recruitment team are proving their doubters wrong after all of the criticism they have received.

Chelsea are set to have an end-of-season review after the Premier League concludes, but The Guardian’s report says Stewart and Winstanley will not be in any danger once it commences.
When you look at the impact that the likes of Palmer, Gusto and Nicolas Jackson have made this term, that is probably fair.
Jackson has scored 14 Premier League goals in 34 appearances and has also provided five assists.
Stewart and Winstanley have not got everything right at Chelsea, otherwise the club would not be fighting for a Europa League spot.
However, it is quite clear now that with them at the helm, the Blues have actually made some good signings.
