Prince William follows Meghan's footsteps by breaking royal rule Kate never strays from

Prince William broke the royal rule of ‘giving his signature’ on a visit to Newquay Beach this week, but he’s not the first member. Meghan Markle and King Charles have been guilty of breaking the rule too.

Kate Middleton however, has stuck to her guns on this royal rule, even had to decline a request from a young fan to sign their painting at the Chelsea Flower Show last Summer. It looks like Prince William, however, couldn’t say no to a young boy as he sweetly signed his arm cast.

Prince William ‘breaks royal rule’ by signing arm cast for young boy

On Thursday, the Prince, who was recentlynamed third ‘sexiest man’ in the UK, visited Fistral beach in Newquay, where he played volleyball with lifeguards before taking selfies with members of the public.

During his interaction with the public, the father of three came across a young boy who had broken his arm, and signed his cast for him.

The boy, whose name is Pheonix, is said to have broken his arm falling off a swing, BBC reports. “‘You need to be careful. Next time, hang on properly,” William said to him.

The sweet gesture, however, did go against royal protocol. It’s an unwritten rule that the royal family isn’t allowed to write their name down, even if a young fan or child asks.

Although it may seem harmless, the reason is believed to be due to “the risk of the signature being forged”.

However, it’s not just William who has gone against this. Meghan Markle, who is no longer a working royal, handed out signed Polaroids earlier this year as she visited a children’s hospital in LA.

King Charles has also ‘broken the rule’

It looks like William can relax, as even his father, King Charles broke the rule once upon a time. In 2010, the monarch, who was then Prince Charles was asked to sign an autograph for one of the victims of the Cornwall floods.

“Can I be really cheeky please Sir and can I have your autograph for my young son Tom? I’m not sure if you do autographs but it would make his day?” one of the victims asked him.

The then Prince then went ahead and wrote “Charles 2010” on the paper while apologizing for his “shaky handwriting.”
