The former President and First lady have recently faced accusations of turmoil in their relationship, but a body language expert has claimed Donald and Melania Trump are on track to turn over a new leaf.
Former President Donald Trump and once First Lady Melania have been forced to contend with a range of accusations about the validity of their relationship over the course of their 19-year marriage. And while just recently it was claimed that the paring was purely one of convenience, new revealing quotes from a ‘body language expert’ suggest that things may be on the up for the Trumps.
Melania ‘relaxed’ by Donald Trump’s appearance at Baron’s graduation
With an ongoing hush money trial leaving Trump facing 34 felony charges, it’s fair to say that he and Melania are enduring a rather stressful time at present. Yet, the former president was granted a day off from the trial to take in his son Baron’s high school graduation on May 17 – an event that a body language expert claims showed a more joyous side to the couple that we haven’t seen for a while.
Speaking to The Mirror, communications and body language professional Judi James said of Melania’s demeanor that the “wide, non-rictus smile visible under the brim of the hat” she showed indicated that the Slovenian-American was “more relaxed than usual”.
“She shows an attachment to her husband by the way her knees are angled towards him as they sit together, and as he stands to joke around, she leans back slightly to watch him with a grin of approval and humor,” explained James as she suggested the moment indicated the beginning of a “new chapter in the Donald and Melania narrative”.
Trump showing ability to ‘compartmentalize’ amid ongoing trial
According to James, Melania wasn’t the only one who was able to detach from the ongoing courtroom stress while watching Baron receive his diploma.
Describing how Trump enjoyed the occasion, James wrote: “Here, at his son’s graduation, he is just every inch the proud, good-humored and even playful dad, happily show-boating to the crowds with a widely stretched, uplifted mouth smile that suggests a smug pleasure from seeing his son do so well”.
According to James, Trump is able to, at least on the surface, hide his stress rather well: “Trump’s body language here suggests a well-honed ability to compartmentalize his visible and emotional state and responses.”
Interestingly, the body language expert also noted that the 18-year-old graduate, towering Barron, looked “like the adult in the room”, a far cry from the “displays of awkward diffidence” the teenager was associated with previously.
