Frank de Boer claims Arsenal is ideal club for ‘extraordinary’ striker wanted by Man Utd

Dutch football legend Frank de Boer has claimed Arsenal are the ideal club for one of Europe’s most exciting talents, ahead of even Manchester United.

The summer transfer window doesn’t officially open until next month, yet the end of the Premier League season has seen the rumour mill already spin into overdrive in regards to Arsenal.

Alexander Isak remains one of the Gunners’ main targets according to reports, whilst Ajax star Brian Brobbey has now emerged as an option for Arsenal, who are keen to sign a striker this summer.

Yet De Boer has now suggested that one striker should be looking to move to Arsenal.

De Boer urges Joshua Zirkzee to join Arsenal this summer

Speaking to CalcioMercato, the former Crystal Palace manager suggested that Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee would be smart to join Arsenal, with the north London side linked with the forward, alongside United.

Lauded by Thiago Motta as an ‘extraordinary’ attacker, Zirkzee has been key to Bologna’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League, and De Boer has now claimed that the Dutch international would be better off joining Arsenal out of any team this window.

De Boer said when asked why Arsenal would be ideal for Zirkzee: “I have great respect for Arsenal, they have patience. For example, they had it with Arteta, who didn’t start well. In some clubs like this you are already out.

“And he has played very well in the last two years, Inter also play well. If I have to say someone I prefer Arsenal, because they have the patience to wait for him and give him confidence.”

Zirkzee could be a risk worth taking this summer

Whilst there is a lot of hype surrounding Zirkzee heading into the transfer window, the attacker’s base numbers aren’t the most convincing for a club like Arsenal who are looking for a world-class goalscorer.

12 goals and seven assists, whilst solid, isn’t enough to convince most Arsenal fans that Zirkzee is the one to lead the line next season, but the risk could still be worth it this summer.

As mentioned by De Boer, Arsenal are a club who are willing to be patient with players, and Zirkzee could well turn into a dynamic goalscorer if given time to adapt under Mikel Arteta in the new season.
