‘I think’: Ben Foster says £378k-a-week Man City man is actually the most important person at the club

Ben Foster has named one figure at Manchester City as being incredibly important in terms of their success.

Last weekend saw the Blues win their sixth Premier League title in seven years and become the first side to win four in a row.

In addition to that, the Citizens could win a consecutive FA Cup by beating Manchester United on Saturday as they did last season.

After the recent 3-1 win over West Ham United, one pundit and former top-flight player felt the need to highlight one particular figure at the Manchester club as being key to their recent successes.

Foster says Pep Guardiola has made Man City almost invincible

Speaking in a recent video shared on his YouTube channel, Foster had this to say on the matter.

He said: “I think with Pep Guardiola in charge, Man City are almost invincible, almost invincible.

“But if he would have said at the end of the game ‘That’s it, I’m done, I’m leaving in the summer,’ everybody would have gone what on Earth for one, but two, genuine doubts for next season as to whether Man City can go and do this again.

“Because I think with him in charge, that Man City team win everything, without doubt, and they always will but it just goes to show how important that one guy is though.

“I was watching the end of the Man City game and a lot of the commentators were asking Pep how do you motivate these players? How do you just keep motivating them? Four in a row and you’re winning this how do you just keep getting them going year after year after year?

“And his basic answer was if I have to motivate them to go out there and win games and play football, give everything you’ve got then I’ve done something wrong, I’ve signed the wrong players if I have to ask you to do what you’re paid incredibly well to do then it’s my fault because I have signed the wrong player and that’s how it should be.”

Guardiola has pushed his side to record-breaking heights

With eight Premier League campaigns now under his belt as City’s manager, the 53-year-old has won 225, drawn 41 and lost 38 of the 304 top-flight games he’s overlooked.

Having now won four league titles in a row, this shows just how well the City boss has been able to stop his players getting complacent in their search for more silverware, even after winning the Treble last season.

Taking into account how many records the £378k-a-week manager has broken during his time at the Etihad Stadium, it’s hard to deny that his presence and work have pushed the club to achieve all they have done with the help of the staff and players.
