Two people are being sought by Hoboken police for their involvement in a carjacking in March, and the public can help capture the pair.

The city’s police department has released photos of the two, who appear to be in their teens or early 20s, and is asking anyone who can identify them or has information about them to contact the proper authorities.

The carjacking occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m., on the 100 block of River Street, on March 27, Hoboken public safety spokeswoman Marci Rubin said. One of the two got into a running and unlocked black 2020 Range Rover.

When the victim noticed the person in the driver’s seat, he jumped into the passenger seat and the two got into a physical altercation, Rubin said. The victim managed to shut off the SUV, and the assailant struck him in the face and fled with the other person.

The victim was treated for minor injuries by Hoboken EMS at the scene and refused further medical attention. Further investigation by Detectives John Quinones, Christine Collins, Michael Losurdo, Andrew Perez, Vito Gigante and Police Officer Ramon Estrella identified two people of interest who are believed to have left Hoboken that afternoon via PATH train.

Anyone who can identify the individuals in the photos, or with more information on this incident, is asked to contact Det. John Quinones at Quinonesj@hobokenpdnj.gov or (201) 420-2100, extension 3182.
