'I would be': Ally McCoist says he'd be 'very surprised' £300,000-a-week player decided to leave Man City

Ally McCoist has admitted that he would be surprised if a certain player decided to leave Manchester City in the summer.

With Manchester City having won four Premier League titles in a row and with a chance to win successive FA Cup trophies, there are not many better places to play football.

As per a report in April, Pep Guardiola will be handed a £200 million war chest to overhaul City’s squad in the summer — which could mean there are several outgoings as well.

Ally McCoist says he would be “surprised” if 28-year-old left City

Pep Guardiola has had a habit of being keen to freshen up his squad — telling BT Sport [TNT Sports now] in 2021 that for a club to remain at the top, it is key to sign players who add a fresh desire for success.

In the last two summer transfer windows, City have sold big names like Raheem Sterling, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus, Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte.

On talkSPORT (9:54 am, 21/05/2024), Jeff Stelling quizzed Ally McCoist about whether Jack Grealish would consider leaving Manchester City or vice versa.

“Do you think he could potentially be looking for a move away from City this season? Could City be looking to move him on?”

Ally McCoist replied: “I would hope not. I think Pep [Guardiola] likes him, he gives them real stability on the left-hand side. Pep loves the fact that he is comfortable on the ball, keeps the ball, keep possession going. I would be very surprised if Jack Grealish was looking to go away from Manchester City.”

The £300,000-a-week man has a contract until 2027 at the Etihad Stadium.

Recently, Grealish admitted that in his eyes, he has not played well this season.

Grealish has no reason to even consider leaving Manchester City

In our view, as Ally McCoist stated, it would be a shock to witness Jack Grealish actively searching for a way out of Manchester City.

After a season that was plagued by injuries and inconsistent starts, Grealish has a chance to silence his critics by redeeming himself next season.

The Englishman has been in a City team that guarantees success, winning three Premier League titles, one Champions League, one FA Cup, one UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

A player as accomplished as Jack Grealish would be hoping to stay at Manchester City, as Ally McCoist stated and hope to become the best version of himself.

A 28-year-old player who is playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world would likely stray far away from even seeking an exit when he can further progress his career during his prime years.
