‘I am hearing’: Journalist names the manager his sources keep saying could get the Chelsea job

Chelsea are looking for a new manager.

The Blues have parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino, and now, they need to find a replacement.

Chelsea’s strategy is reportedly centred around finding a young coach to come in and replace Pochettino, and a number of options have been linked.

According to Dean Jones, writing on the Ranks FC Ultras Patreon page, Kieran McKenna is the name he keeps hearing from most of his contacts at the moment in connection to this job.

Kieran McKenna mentioned with Chelsea

Jones shared what he’s been hearing from his contacts about McKenna and Chelsea.

“So who next? Kieran McKenna is a name I am hearing most from my contacts at the moment,” Jones wrote.

“It’s a huge leap from managing Ipswich but there is definitely something in the fact that the club want a coach who can properly develop their young talent and see him as a man that could do that.”

Kieran McKenna is too inexperienced

Kieran McKenna has had an incredible start to life as a manager, but let’s not forget, just 18 months ago he was managing in League One.

This is a young coach who doesn’t have any sort of top-level experience, and it’s hard to look past that when you’re a club like Chelsea.

Chelsea, almost more than any other club, has been run by players’ egos over the years, and McKenna, quite simply, might not be able to handle that.

McKenna has done an remarkable job with Ipswich Town, make no mistake about it, but, making that step up to a club like Chelsea can prove to be too much for even the most promising coaches – just look at Graham Potter as an example.

Chelsea would be better off going for someone a bit more proven than McKenna at this point in time.
