Multiple fire crews attend Roydon house struck by lightning

A number of crews were called to a house fire in Roydon, which was struck by lightning yesterday – for nearly two hours.

The home in Linden Grove, which was set alight by the strike, was attended to by units from Diss, Harleston, Thetford, Attleborough, Needham Market and Bungay.

Also in attendance to the incident, which started at 2.30pm on Tuesday, was an aerial ladder platform from North Earlham, a water carrier from Hethersett, as well as officers from Norfolk Police.

The occupants of the house, who were believed to be inside the property when the lightning struck, were evacuated and the street was closed off whilst crews tackled the fire in the property’s roof.

The incident had a close time of 4.29pm.
